2018 Leaf Program Information

leaf picture

Crews are still out picking up leaves in the unincorporated areas of St Joseph County.  All residents have received a First Pass.  Residents in Madison, Union, Liberty, and Lincoln Townships have also received their second and final pass.

Crews are now working to complete a second pass in Centre, Greene, Olive and Clay Townships.  Following that will be Warren, Portage, German, Harris and Penn Townships.  All current and future leaf pick-up schedules are subject to weather conditions.

Residents needing to report a missed leaf collection, should complete a “Missed Leaf Collection” form located under the “Contact Us” tab on www.sjclp.com.  Residents can also call 574-235-9534.

Residents who have received a door hanger explaining a leaf pile non-conformance issue should also complete the “Missed Leaf Collection” form as soon as the issue with the leaf pile has been corrected and within 24-hours of receiving the door hanger.

Please be advised we are still under snow conditions, and leaf piles should be placed in the roadway, within five feet of the curb line.

Revised burn amnesty dates are December 6-9, 2018, so residents are also free to burn leaves beginning today through this weekend.

There will be signs and a designated area for drop off at each of the sites. We ask residents drop off bagged leaves only and please drop them off only in the designated area to not interfere with daily operations. Residents may drop off bagged leaves anytime during this time frame from December 3rd – December 16th.

We have complied a list of area leaf pick-up vendors who have expressed interest in contracting with individual home owners or home owner associations.  The county does not endorse any particular vendor, but simply is providing this list as an additional courtesy to our residents.
